Join us for a day of exploration and fun! Winter Birding offers many challenges, but this only makes its rewards even better! We will discuss helpful winter birding techniques and head to the field to focus on four groups of birds including birds of prey, woodpeckers, waterfowl, and songbirds. We will take a few short hikes of less than one mile each and do a few road tour loops as well. We will strive to examine the birds themselves, bird tracks and scat, nesting sites, and feeding/kill sites. Please come prepared with quiet camouflage clothing, snowshoes (just in case), binoculars, spotting scopes, water, lunch, cameras, and a birding field guide book.
We will meet at N.I.C. Sandpoint, Idaho at the south entrance to the college at 9 am PST (Pacific Standard Time) and wrap up will be approximately 3 pm. Please come with full gas tanks and smiles!
