CourseGraphic This Online Self-Study course will prepare you to take the Idaho Log Scalers license exam which is administered by the Idaho Board of Scaling Practices each year. Log Scalers are required by Idaho State law to be licensed. Log Scalers are responsible for calculating the net volume of harvested logs. Primarily working in log yards, log scalers use industry tools and calculations in their practice.
This Online Self Study class will teach you species identification, proper techniques for calculating log volumes, and rules and calculations applied to determine types of defects. When combined, these three highly skilled techniques determine net volume.
This course will allow you to combine this online self-study preparation with Onsite Field Training. Your employer should provide a Licensed Log Scaling professional for Field Training, Exam Preparation and Technical Hands on Skills Training. Employer should provide sufficient field training hours (160+ hours recommended) and preparation time prior to exam date. Please contact your employer for scheduling.

Idaho State Licensing Exam to be performed by the Idaho Board of Scaling Practices. Exam Date TBD.  Exam fees not included in this training.
