Introduction to Backcountry Skiing

ID : 94233
« back to classes page
Untracked snow, no lift lines, and a fun, safe day with friends is what we’re looking for in backcountry skiing.  This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of the sport. We will have a classroom session, covering trip preparations and avalanche safety concepts and two full days in the field. Day one in the field we will get comfortable with the equipment and its use and day two will be an avalanche awareness clinic with a short tour. Participants should ski or snowboard at an intermediate level and be comfortable with moderate to strenuous exercise. No equipment? No problem. Outdoor Pursuits has a full line of backcountry ski and snowboard equipment available for rent. For more information, contact Jacob Rothrock at: jacob.rothrock@nic.edu
